Cycling Day 5
21.05.2018 - 21.05.2018
Day 5
This was a furphy as there was only 4 days of cycling and Day 5 was to recover from aches and pains. Unfortunately, Deb had caught Leonie’s cold and she had to retire to bed all day. Dreadfully sick. I wasn’t feeling a 100% as well but I couldn’t work out whether I had a cold or it was just aches from the cycling. The car hire company delivered the citron VAN to the Chateau. It was rather larger than we expected but then again, there was a lot more room. I was a bit concern about parking it in the French towns but we’ll see. The Stocks took off in the van to check out the town of Chinon and we stayed back fighting the urge to die. Thankfully Deb improved at about 4 am and we went outside for a bit of fresh air. The Chateau receptionist was quite bemused at the crazy Australians! I just spent part of the day taking photos of the Chateau and its grounds. The lighting was amazing.
Now that the cycling is over, I have to say that the weather was perfect for us. It could have been very ugly with rain and hail etc etc. In fact, the weather was only a bit of a bother on the first day when it was very cold. Other than that, I managed to get a tan on my armband legs. So all in all, the cycling could be regarded as a major success!
