The Citadel

Visited the Citadel today. This is the somewhat derelict castle perched on rocks high above the town. One can imagine that from that vantage point, it would command an imposing view of the surrounding countryside. The views from up there were fabulous. It did involve a fair number of steps to get up there. Ugh! Worth it in the end.

The others decided to go for a walk after a hearty lunch of Corsican soup and the ever present crusty bread. Everything is tinged with chestnuts in Corsican cuisine as it is the dominant nut on the island. Delicious. I decided to have a snooze which was a great choice. I woke up to rain. Luckily, the walkers manage to just miss the rain.

Another great meal at the restaurant across the car park and bed.

We are headed off to the 2 lakes which will involve a long trek. Not sure that I’ll enjoy that but I am looking forward to the photography. The things on has to do for one’s art!!
