Cannes

I woke up early and set out for a walk on the foreshore to take advantage of the early light for the best photos. Walked up to an arch bridge along the very busy ocean road. It would drive me mad driving on that road as there were zebra crossings every 50 to 100 m. The cars were constantly stopping so it wouldn’t take much to create a traffic jam of mega proportions!

By the time I got back to the ranch, the girls were awake. We had a late leisurely breakfast and then headed down for a walk along the foreshore. Again there were lots of old people. Very strange. It is not a good look when an 80 yo is decked out in a bikini!

We then set off in the trusty citron van to Cannes. We took the coastal road which was very scenic but it tool us 2 hours to travel 80 km. The weather here was perfect. Just like a warm spring day in Bunbury. Arrived in Cannes by about 1430 hrs. Checked in. Great room especially as it has a proper shower. Awesome. Showered and down for a sleep.

Met the stocks downstairs and just have to have a beer before setting off. Desperados was what we had - a tequila flavoured beer, strange but very tasty. Head down the road which was like rodeo drive in Los Angeles on steroids. All the luxury brands were represented. Lots of the young and pretty walking up and down the road. Also lots of old people who apparently never grew up as they were also dressed like the young and pretty. I fitted right in with my K-mart shorts and going out thongs! There were also quite a few beggars. The ones sitting down with a hat out for donations don’t look very successful as they were quite fat. Can’t claim to be hungry when you weigh 120 kg! Work it out guys.

We had cocktails at one of the bars at the waterfront. Bad mistake. Poor service, cramped up and finally stung with the bill. 60 Euros for 4 cocktails. We were going to eat there but after seeing some of the average looking dishes coming out from the kitchen, we decided to move on. We found this Vietnamese/Thai restaurant. Absolutely delicious with proper chillis which were actually hot. We didn’t realise how much we miss the Asian food.

Haven’t decided what to do tomorrow. Decisions will be made over breakfast.
